I jumped on the aluminum free deodorant bandwagon a while back. It took me sometime to find an option which smells fresh and actually works. It was not an easy search. Some were over pricey, some had funky smell while others simply did not do their job.
Last year I saw Schmidt’s Deodorant in a jar at one of the health stores. One whiff of the crisp and fresh Bergamot and Lime and the musky Cedarwood and Juniper and I was sold. The application was not that easy since you had to scoop the product out using a spatula or your fingers and it felt pretty unhygienic. But I loved it so much that after a few days scooping the product out didn’t bother me at all. I only wished they would come out with some easier application method.
Last month to my sheer surprise my local health store had my favorite deodorant on display in the new items section in the stick form. Wohoo!!! I could not be more happy.
Schmidt’s is a vegan, cruelty free, free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens and phthalates deodorant made in Portland. It comes in 5 scents :

My favorite is Bergamot and Lime. I bought it for around $8 at my local health store and is cheaper as compared to some other natural deodorants which have I tried in the past.
It feels grainy to the touch but within a few seconds it melts and the application becomes easy. Initially you may feel that the smell is overpowering but it eventually fades away.
Remember since its not an antiperspirant you will not stop sweating but the sweat will be odorless. I do not reapply unless I am in the sun for a long time or am doing strenuous activity for more than 4 hours.
So if you are looking for a natural deodorant which smells amazing and does a wonderful job, do give Schmidt’s a try.
