Rachel Hollis entered my life almost a year ago when I read her book Girl, Wash your Face.

In fact, I enjoyed the book so much that it made it to my Must-Read Books of 2018.

I listened to the audio version of the book and it was soo uplifting that I ended up listening to every podcast to date by Rachel Hollis. Her bubbly, lively, uplifting personality shines through her words and there is soo much that I learned along the way and applied to my own life.

And then came Girl, Stop Apologizing

Title: Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free plan for Embracing and Achieving you Goals

Author: Rachel Hollis

Genre: Self-Help, Women & Business, Motivation

Publisher: HarperCollins Leadership

Release Date: March 12, 2019

Initially, I listened to the audiobook version because I love it when the audiobooks are narrated by the authors but there I wanted to see the sketches so ended up getting a copy from the library to make some solid notes.

The author, Rachel Hollis with the new book

In all honesty, I enjoyed this book more than her previous books.

The book falls in the genre of “Self-Help” or “Motivational Books for Women”and if you have never read a book from this genre this will be a perfect first one for you.

It is uplifting, upbeat, motivational and inspiring.

The best thing I liked about the book was that it does not matter what season of your life you are in, or what goals you have or if your goals are mere dreams, this book will change the way you view them.

There are detailed, yet light-read chapters which will help you first to recognize the problem, then give you ways how to accept the issue at hand and finally provide you with tangible steps to take tackle them.

The book talks about the everyday problems women face, the common one being putting their own goals/passions/dreams on the backseat while attending to everyone else’s needs or not taking the next step in the fear of being judged by other people.

Sound familiar?

Next comes the section on how to acknowledge these issues and what behavior changes need to be made to deal with them.

In the last section, there are practical steps on how to make your dreams a reality in the midst of your current state of life. For example, she suggests finding things which matter the most and just focus on them instead of attending to all the million things going on at that time.

Of course, like with any self-help book, you will not agree 100% with the author and there are soo many levels on which I, myself cannot relate to the Rachel Hollis’s personal life, also I did not like the fact that the book is loaded with self-praise.

What the book holds is not anything new, we all have heard those things a bazillion times, its the way she pens it…that makes it different. It will leave you charged and ready to make a good change.

Overall a good book which will definitely motivate you and inspire to do something positive with your life.
