How long is the drive through Fossil Rim?

The Godsin Scenic Drive is 7.2 miles long and takes approximately 2 hours to enjoy.

Can I feed the animals by hand?

Yes! That is what makes this experience intimate and exciting. As each car gets only 1 bag of feed, try not to use all of it at the start of the drive. Ration and use the feed wisely. We really enjoyed feeing the giraffe, emu, ostrich etc.

What if I get hungry? Can I grab something to eat while at Fossil Rim?

Yes.

Halfway through the drive, there is a lookout point which has a café, restrooms and a nature store. Due to covid there is limited to-go menu (which can be grabbed at the front gate). Masks are need to get in and out of the café.

While you enjoy your food, do also enjoy the fantastic views from here.

Can I expect a unique experience?

Yes. We got to witness the fight/battle between Axis Deer. Two were fighting while the rest were calmly enjoying the show.

What animals can I expect to find at the Fossil Rim?

You can find all of these animals here.

We were thrilled to see the charismatic Cheetahs and it sure was scary to hear their growls and in addition to that we also enjoyed the Giraffe, Ostrich and the Emus who were super friendly and super hungry and did not want to leave the cars or give way to them.

Final Thoughts?

Overall a fun and sweet way to spend a morning or afternoon. Weekends can get busy so plan accordingly. Ideal for kids and families and for folks visiting from out of town.
